Phase 2C Primary 1 Registration 2026: What Parents Need to Know

Phase 2C is the main open-registration phase for Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident children who have not yet secured a Primary 1 place. For the 2026 exercise, registration closes at 4.30pm on Thursday, 30 July 2026, and results will be released on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. Here is what parents should check before submitting, and what happens after the window closes.

Who can register in Phase 2C?

Phase 2C is for a child who is not yet registered in a primary school. The 2026 P1 Registration Exercise applies to children born from 2 January 2020 to 1 January 2021, both dates inclusive. Parents may submit only one school application in a phase. If more than one submission is made during the phase, MOE will use the latest submission.

The 2026 Phase 2C dates

Registration opens: 9am on Tuesday, 28 July 2026
Registration closes: 4.30pm on Thursday, 30 July 2026
Results: Tuesday, 11 August 2026

If you are applying on the final day, do not leave the submission until the last few minutes. Check that the school choice and contact details are correct, submit through the official P1 Registration Portal, and retain the acknowledgement for your records.

How vacancies and balloting work

MOE reserves 40 places in every primary school for Phase 2C at the start of the exercise. Phase 2C also receives two-thirds of any places remaining after Phase 2A and all places remaining after Phase 2B. Balloting is required only when the number of applicants exceeds the vacancies available at a school.

When balloting is needed, priority is given in this order:

Singapore Citizens living within 1km of the school
Singapore Citizens living between 1km and 2km
Singapore Citizens living outside 2km
Permanent Residents living within 1km
Permanent Residents living between 1km and 2km
Permanent Residents living outside 2km

A popular school is not automatically a poor choice, but parents should understand which priority group their child falls into and compare the current vacancies with the applicant count before deciding.

What to consider before choosing a school

Distance matters during balloting, but the daily family routine matters after admission. Consider travel time, transport arrangements, school-based student care, the child’s needs, and whether the school environment is a practical fit. A nearby school that works well for your family can be a stronger long-term choice than a difficult daily commute.

Confirm your official home-to-school distance and address eligibility.
Check the latest vacancies and applicant numbers, not only past-year demand.
Review the school’s programmes, values, student care options, and transport.
Discuss a backup plan in case balloting is required.

What happens after registration?

MOE updates the vacancies and balloting page during the exercise. After Phase 2C closes, check whether your selected school requires balloting and wait for the official result on 11 August. If the application is unsuccessful, your child may register in the next phase they are eligible for, including Phase 2C Supplementary.
